Metal Fabrication of Aluminum Crew’s Box Assembly for the Military Industry
A military client recently contracted J & N Metal to fabricate a crew’s box assembly constructed from aluminum, shown here, that functions as both a storage unit and steps on H53 helicopters. Using a combination of our advanced laser cutting, break press forming, CNC milling, and riveting technology, we completely manufactured this box – meeting +/- .003 of an inch precision tolerances.

After all crew’s box components were built, J & N Metal engineers then assembled the unit in-house. The 18 x 24 x 20 inch box weighed approximately 35 pounds. Once assured that the final assembled item was built to exact customer specifications, we then delivered the finished crew’s box to our client’s facility, located in Crane, Indiana. This crew’s box assembly met with absolute customer satisfaction.
